The Charleston Conference is planning a very special “In Between” 2-day virtual conference event to explore important late-breaking developments that can’t wait until November for discussion. Sessions will be held in Zoom, and will be recorded and sent to registered attendees after the event to watch on demand.
- Individual Registration: $75
- Group Rate: $225 (View as an unlimited group in a classroom/meeting room setting, or register for up to 5 individual access points.)

“In the News”: Updates on recent news developments, with a focus on the Ukraine Conflict and its chilling impact on the conduct of research, scholarship, education. What’s happening and what are we to make of it? This discussion will leave the audience reflecting on both the world situation on how world events can affect the kind of academic activities society relies on and almost takes for granted.

- Arik Burakovsky, Assistant Director, Russia and Eurasia Program, The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. Arik will speak about the challenges to research and higher education, both locally and globally, arising from the Russian war in Ukraine.
- Quinn Dombrowski, Academic Technology Specialist, Division of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages, and the Library, Stanford University. Quinn will speak about the SUCHO project (Saving Ukrainian Cultural
History Online). - Gwen Evans, Vice President Global Library Relations, Elsevier. Gwen will speak about how publishers have made decisions about providing or withdrawing services from Russia at this time and the challenges of doing so.
- Kent Lee, President and CEO, East View Information Services, Inc. Kent will speak about managing East View offices and publishing staff activities in Kyiv and Moscow in these times.
- Dr. Tetiana Yaroshenko, Vice-President for Research and IT, the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. Tetiana will speak about what it’s like to provide information services in an academic institution during the time of war.
