An introduction to library linked data

OCLC “recently announced a comprehensive strategy to bring linked data into mainstream library cataloging workflows. It’s a long-term approach, recognizing that most libraries will move to linked data slowly and incrementally—and we’re committed to providing tools and resources to support the transition for everyone.

Working closely with libraries around the world, we know that staff at some libraries are already educating themselves on the topic, piloting linked data services, and taking part in ongoing research. But we also know that many others have a lot of questions. In addition to technical issues, librarians are also wondering how linked data will impact and affect the work they are currently doing. To help, OCLC is rolling out linked data infrastructure and services that meet libraries where they are today and provide meaningful improvement to challenges facing libraries. …”

University Press publishers set to convene in montréal for annual meeting

Knowledgespeak reports thatThe Association of University Presses (AUPresses) has announced plans for its highly anticipated 2024 Annual Meeting, scheduled to take place in the vibrant city of Montréal, Quebec, from June 11th to 13th.

With the preliminary program now available and registration officially open, anticipation is building for this flagship event, which promises to offer an enriching experience for university press publishers from around the world.

The 2024 Annual Meeting Program Committee, co-chaired by David Aycock, Deputy Director of Baylor University Press, and Michelle Sybert, Assistant Director of University of Notre Dame Press, has curated a dynamic agenda comprising three plenaries, over 35 concurrent sessions, and numerous networking events. These sessions are designed to inspire, inform, and foster collaboration within the community of mission-driven publishers.The 2024 Annual Meeting Program Committee, co-chaired by David Aycock, Deputy Director of Baylor University Press, and Michelle Sybert, Assistant Director of University of Notre Dame Press, has curated a dynamic agenda comprising three plenaries, over 35 concurrent sessions, and numerous networking events. Themes such as artificial intelligence, equity, justice, inclusion, accessibility, open access, and building strong publication lists will take center stage during this year’s program, reflecting the pressing issues and evolving landscape of academic publishing. …”
