(CHARLESTON, SC) The Charleston Hub is excited to announce that the Plenary Session videos from this year’s Charleston Library Conference are now available on our YouTube channel. The 2022 conference was a fantastic gathering of in person and virtual speakers from across the fields of librarianship and publishing. These plenary sessions were highlights from a week of powerful presentations and great discussions.
“The 2022 plenary sessions represented a broad variety of topics and experiences in the library and publishing world, from Africa to the US to Europe and beyond. We’re grateful to the keynote and plenary speakers for sharing their expertise and knowledge, and are happy to share these session recordings open access on our YouTube channel.” Leah Hinds, Executive Director
The videos are free to access and open to all. They are a great way to recap the sessions you loved or catch the ones you may have missed. For viewing convenience, the sessions have been compiled into one playlist found at: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIGLt62pr1M6JxHrlb8vgSc-PDG01ZxB0

“I have enjoyed the many videos that are available after the conference,” says Katina Strauch, Founder and Convener of the Charleston Conference. “This makes the content so much more accessible and timely!”
Over the decades, the Charleston Conference has become an industry standard in library and publishing conferences. Darrell W. Gunter, President and CEO of GMG, Inc., calls it “one of the most important conferences in the scholarly publishing industry.”
These videos allow the conference to share the experience and rich content in a quick and efficient manner that was not available in the past. It also makes the important discussions taking place at the conference available to more people across the U.S. and the globe. This allows important conversations taking place around industry hot topics to continue long after the conference is over.
About the Charleston Conference:
The Charleston Conference is an informal annual gathering of librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants, and vendors of library materials in Charleston, SC, in November, to discuss issues of importance to them all. It is designed to be a collegial gathering of individuals from different areas who discuss the same issues in a non-threatening, friendly, and highly informal environment. Presidents of companies discuss and debate with library directors, acquisitions librarians, reference librarians, serials librarians, collection development librarians, and many, many others. Begun in 1980, the Charleston Conference has grown from 20 participants in 1980 to over 2,500 in 2022.
About the Charleston Hub:
Charleston Hub was created in 2020 to bring together the various websites associated with the Charleston Conference and Against the Grain into one site allowing a unified search screen making it easier to lookup information and one point of registration for both the site and the conference. The aim of the Hub is to bring together librarians, vendors and publishers to discuss areas of common interest and to find relevant information. It is also the gateway to the Charleston Conference, the journal Against the Grain, and a host of information sources on job, news and other relevant information.
