(CHARLESTON, SC) The Charleston Hub is excited to announce that the Charleston Leadership Interviews videos from this year’s Charleston Library Conference are now available on our YouTube channel. The 2022 conference was a fantastic gathering of in person and virtual speakers from across the fields of librarianship and publishing. The sessions were packed with innovative ideas from leaders around the globe.
“Charleston Leadership Interviews are a great way to get “behind the podium” and hear more from some of the incredible speakers and thought leaders who are part of the Charleston Hub community,” said Meg White, Senior Consultant, Delta Think.
The Charleston Conference interviews are a master class in business and innovation from movers and shakers at the top of their fields.
“As an interviewer, it is my absolute pleasure to be able to dive deep into the background of our subjects, to benefit from their keen insights, and to share in their experiences around the conference. I learn so much from the process, and I’m grateful for their participation,” said Heather Staines, Director of Community Engagement, Delta Think.
These interviews between industry leaders and conference directors offer deeper insights beyond conference week. There is only so much time during the annual conference to delve into the thoughtful discussion many of these topics deserve. The interviews are a way to keep the conversations going.
“Don’t miss out on the Charleston Leadership Interviews this year,” said Erin Gallagher, Chair, Acquisitions & Collections Services, George A. Smathers Libraries, University of Florida. “I was thrilled to chat with so many delightful and insightful folks and to hear about how they’re shaking things up in the library and information realm. It’s an honor to learn from both seasoned and early-career librarians. There’s something for everyone in these interviews and I’m grateful to have taken part.”
The interviews are free to access and open to all. These talks with industry leaders have their own playlist on the Charleston Hub’s YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIGLt62pr1M5Bztdt0GQvJ2-2N-G98q3Y.
About the Charleston Conference:
The Charleston Conference is an informal annual gathering of librarians, publishers, electronic resource managers, consultants, and vendors of library materials in Charleston, SC, in November, to discuss issues of importance to them all. It is designed to be a collegial gathering of individuals from different areas who discuss the same issues in a non-threatening, friendly, and highly informal environment. Presidents of companies discuss and debate with library directors, acquisitions librarians, reference librarians, serials librarians, collection development librarians, and many, many others. Begun in 1980, the Charleston Conference has grown from 20 participants in 1980 to over 2,500 in 2022.
About the Charleston Hub:
Charleston Hub was created in 2020 to bring together the various websites associated with the Charleston Conference and Against the Grain into one site allowing a unified search screen making it easier to lookup information and one point of registration for both the site and the conference. The aim of the Hub is to bring together librarians, vendors and publishers to discuss areas of common interest and to find relevant information. It is also the gateway to the Charleston Conference, the journal Against the Grain, and a host of information sources on job, news and other relevant information.
