California Digital Library Acquisitions Coordinator

Primarily reporting within the Content Acquisitions and Resource Sharing (CARS) Program at UC San Diego Library, with an additional dotted line connection to the Library Business Services (LBS) Program, this position leads and coordinates the California Digital Library (CDL) acquisitions activities for UC-wide campuses, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and other institutional partners as applicable.

Under the direction of the Program Director for CARS at the UC San Diego Library and receiving work direction from the Assistant Director of Systemwide Licensing and Collection Services at CDL, this position manages the CDL Acquisitions Unit, supervises two FTEs, and coordinates and processes annual expenditures for digital scholarly content worth nearly $50 million. Serves as an expert in developing and implementing complex electronic resources pricing and cost share models used in management of these ongoing investments. Provides a monthly report that tracks revenue and expenditures for related budgets and reconciles data between relevant business systems. Negotiates renewal fees and makes renewal decisions independently within defined price thresholds.

Works within the systemwide library management system to manage acquisition and other lifecycle activities for CDL-managed content. Effectively interacts with vendors of all types, representing UC and CDL aims and objectives while maintaining strong relationships. Resolves problems both independently and when appropriate through close collaboration with senior management. Engages in strategic planning and analysis jointly with UC San Diego Library and CDL leadership. Initiates and facilitates successful collaborations with advisory groups and campus collection development officers. Exercises judgement in making purchase / renewal decisions; identifying and engaging in consultation as required.

Hiring Salary Range: $4,466.67 – $6,883.33 / Month
