The Charleston Conference is “On the Road Again!” this year for our 41st annual conference, and we’re excited to once again host the Charleston Vendor Showcase for our exhibitors and attendees. The showcase will by a hybrid event, just like the rest of the conference, with virtual booths open on the Pathable platform on Monday, November 1, from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Eastern, and in-person exhibits in the Charleston Gaillard Center on Tuesday, November 2, from 10:30 am – 6:00 pm.

We currently have 91 companies exhibiting, and we spoke to some of the participants to talk about their plans for Charleston. Here’s a round-up of their responses!

“I am sooooo looking forward to this conference! This is my first in-person conference since March 2020.  I only hope my travel clothes and shoes still fit. Charleston has always been my favorite event. End of year… beautiful weather… great food… and I get to meet with and thank all of my wonderful customers! I know planning a hybrid is twice the work.  But Leah, Katina and Toni always put on a great conference, and I’m sure this year will not disappoint but surpass! See y’all in November!”

“We’re celebrating getting back to Charleston! We’ll have an active virtual booth, too, but there’s nothing like being face to face with our friends at our favorite conference.  Stephen Rhind-Tutt, Eileen Lawrence, and Lenny Rogers will be onsite at the vendor showcase. Please visit Table 1 to talk with us about Mindscape Commons, Policy Commons, African Collections—including The Sabinet Complete Collection and our Survey of African Archives—and a brand-new project we’ll announce during the Vendor Showcase.  We’re already asking ourselves… How many of our member libraries will be there? How many restaurants can I visit in five days before I’m too stuffed to move?  Is the Francis Marion prepared for the “rock the house” mood that will take over their lobby when exuberance breaks out?  Will Katina show up in costume to mark the occasion? “On the Road Again” is a perfect name for this meeting. We’re packing our bags and can’t wait!!!”

“The Yewno team is so excited to get back to the Charleston Conference in person!  Last year’s virtual event using the Pathable platform was really well run, the sessions were terrific, and we were able to connect with a number of people between sessions – but there is nothing quite like the serendipity of an in-person event.”

Jill Mathers, Director of Marketing & Communications, Yewno

Article Galaxy Scholar experts, Scott, Tony, Maria, and Leah will be on hand to talk with participants about their literature access challenges, current systems, and how we can help simplify access and reduce costs. Stop by Booth #64 to say hello!”

“The Charleston Conference has been a highlight of our events calendar for many years. It is a great opportunity to catch up with old friends from the library community across North America and beyond, and to form new partnerships. This year we are excited to share news about the excellent response we have had to our cost-neutral Read & Publish initiative. We are also delighted to be participating in the “OA agreements with small independent publishers: A how-to guide with real, friendly publishers” pre-conference session on 28 October.”

Richard Grove, Commercial Manager, The Company of Biologists

“Duke University Press is excited to participate this year, both virtually and in person. Circumstances allowing, we’re looking forward to seeing and meeting with attendees.”
