ATG Quirkies: Nietzsche’s Path

Check out the mountain trail that inspired Nietzsche to complete his magnum opus Thus Spoke Zarathustra.

According to this post in Atlas Obscura “after losing year-long friendships with composer Richard Wagner and philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer over intellectual quarrels around the mid-1870s, Friedrich Nietzsche’s mental health and emotional outlook took a deep dive.

But he found relief for his myriad illnesses and his “ever-increasing migraines” in of all places, the French Riviera. In particular it was a mountain path, now known as “Le Chemin de Nietzsche” by locals, that seems to have the most beneficial impact.
