About This Role:Kansas State University Libraries invite applications and nominations for an energetic, creative, and committed individual to serve in the position of Data Analyst for Content Development. This position reports to the head of the content development.

Following the May 22, 2018 fire in Hale Library, the university’s main library, the administration, faculty and staff, who had been looking forward to the creation of a first-floor learning commons, will instead reimagine the institution from the ground up. Central to the future of the Libraries will be aligned collections for the needs of our university community.

To be successful in this position, the incumbent must demonstrate excellent analytical and organizational skills to establish and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues in an environment where flexibility and collaboration are essential. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to accuracy and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with faculty and staff throughout the Library to collect and integrate data in various formats and from multiple sources.  Develop analytical processes including data model and algorithms targeting value, usage, and cost to improve collection development and management
  • Use of and develop dashboards for baseline and ad hoc analyses to support decision-making.  Create reports and visualization for effective data communication.
  • Compile and compare collections data from other libraries to aid in cooperative collection development activities and benchmarking
  • Provide support on analysis and presentation of quantitative and qualitative research findings on Library collections

What You’ll Need to Succeed:Required Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics, statistics, or related field
  • One year of relevant experience

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics, statistics, or related field
  • Advanced skills in using business intelligence tools to manipulate, summarize, and present data in visual format
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability in managing data from multiple sources for data analysis
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Experience in collection/content development or acquisitions in an academic library
  • Experience providing data related services in a library or research setting

Salary Range/ Pay Rate:$ 48,430 – $ 77,460 annual salary

Actual salary will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, education, internal equity and departmental funding. Salary offers are typically made between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. The range indicated includes both the typical hiring range and potential future progression.
