“OCLC has extended its partnership with the National Library of New Zealand with an agreement to provide more than 200 New Zealand libraries access to WorldShare Interlibrary Loan (ILL), which connects thousands of libraries around the world. The addition of WorldShare ILL services complements discovery and metadata workflows already managed through OCLC’s cloud-based WorldShare platform…”


According to infoDOCKET researchers “can explore one of the Smithsonian’s newest collections in their digital library containing books, catalogs and ephemera from 19th and 20th century World’s Fairs and Expositions. The majority of the items in this collection were digitized by an outside vendor as part of a special project.

Pieces in this collection date from the mid 1800’s to the early 1900’s, highlighting experiences from different fairs that took place all over the world, from America to Europe and more…”


infoDOCKET also reports that “the public can now access information about active wildfires across the country using a smartphone.

The newly designed GeoMAC, a near real-time web mapping service hosted by the U.S. Geological Survey, is now available through any web browser compatible with mobile devices…”


 

Shelf Aware reports that “total net book sales in April in the U.S. rose 4.4%, to $832.2 million, compared to April 2017, representing sales of 1,076 publishers and distributed clients as reported to the Association of American Publishers. For the year to date, total net book sales have risen 5.5%, to $3.3 billion.

Trade books had a good month. Trade revenue overall was up 11.1%. Adult books rose 12.2%; children’s/YA was up 8.3%, and religious presses rose 9.8%…”


Digital Reader reports that despite overall increases in publisher sales “ebook revenue continued to decline in the first third of this year, while trade revenues fluctuated upwards, increasing by 7.3% over the same period in 2017…”
