gale_cengage_logo_smallWe’re excited to announce that Gale, a part of Cengage Learning, is again offering a scholarship to attend the Charleston Conference! Details are below, or contact Shannon Ostrowski with questions at [email protected].

Amount: $1,000
Deadline: September 11, 2015

Gale, a part of Cengage Learning, is pleased to offer a $1,000 travel scholarship to attend the 2015 Charleston Conference. The scholarship will be awarded to a librarian who was or is currently working at an academic library. Applicants are asked to write an essay between 1,000 and 1,500 words on the following topic:

“Cengage Learning recently conducted a survey of 3,000 students. 75% of those students say they wish they took more advantage of the library and its resources; yet, 70% of them do not ask their campus librarians for help with course assignments. How can libraries take students from knowing about the physical library to utilizing its resources for coursework, and what does or should your library be doing to bridge this gap?”
Essays, along with a one-page resume, should be sent to Jennifer Albers-Smith at [email protected] by August 28, 2015 and will be reviewed by a panel consisting of Mark Hyer, VP, Academic Sales, Gale; Jennifer Albers-Smith, Marketing Director, Gale; and Tony Horava, Associate University Librarian at University of Ottawa.  We will announce the scholarship winner on September 7, 2015. The scholarship must be used for the 2015 Charleston Conference.
