“The recent transition of the North East Research Library Consortium (NERL) from Yale University to the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) creates a career opportunity for a licensing professional to contribute to the rapidly expanding field of electronic resource acquisition and licensing as the NERL Program Director at CRL.

The incumbent is responsible for meeting the ambitious goals and objectives of the NERL Program at CRL.  Initially, the incumbent will work with the current NERL director at Yale to ensure the orderly transfer of the program to CRL.  Thenceforth, in collaboration with the NERL Program Council and under the general guidance of CRL leadership the incumbent negotiates the most beneficial terms of use and advantageous pricing for current e-journals, e-books, and databases in STM, the social sciences and the humanities.  Duties includes promoting and supporting member and affiliate participation in the NERL program; vendor negotiations and communications; monitoring of program payables and receivables; as well as planning and coordinating the activities of the NERL team.  The incumbent may take on other activities such as advocacy or collection development projects to leverage program results…

Syracuse University Library seeks an energetic, team-oriented librarian with at least two years of professional experience, excellent technological skills, a strong service orientation, and a background in business or a related field to serve as a subject specialist and reference librarian for business and related subject areas. This individual will work with a team of librarians and support staff in an active, student-centered research library environment. The Syracuse University Library, with collections of nearly three million volumes, is actively pursuing electronic and digital initiatives as part of its strategic directions and initiatives.

The National Agricultural Library (NAL) is the nation’s primary resource for agricultural information in all formats and is one of four U.S. national libraries. NAL also serves as the Library for the United States Department of Agriculture.

This position is located in Beltsville, MD in the Acquisitions & Metadata Branch (AMB) performing the functions of principal licensing expert for the Library.

Major responsibilities include:

Managing programs, projects, and procedures related to the acquisition and collection lifecycle of electronic resources purchased for the National Agricultural Library’s national collection.

Managing the Library’s contracting activities for electronic resources and bibliographic metadata, including negotiating license agreements, serving as the Contracting Officer’s Representative on multiple contracts, and resolving performance issues with vendors.

Serving as principal liaison with ARS procurement staff.

Building the NAL resource collection across all formats by collecting and managing usage data and other information to assist in selecting new titles for the collection and making renewal and cancellation decisions.

Monitoring the work of Acquisitions and Metadata Branch Staff to ensure that accurate information about the Library’s procurement activities is recorded in relevant systems, (e.g., ARS financial management systems and library information systems)…

Salary: $89,033.00 to $115,742.00 / Per Year
