The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, Kraemer Family Library, is seeking a Head of Collections Management in the Technical Services Department. The Head of Collections Management leads, administers, and coordinates collection development activities and works with others to provide leadership of the cataloging and government documents unit and University Archives for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, Kraemer Family Library. This tenured or tenure-track position directs the Library’s Collections Management operations including the selection, management, and acquisition of collections; develops and administers the Library’s materials budget; works closely with Library Systems in the assessment of the integrated library systems by focusing on strategies that maximize the latest technologies; and directly supervises 3 librarians, 1 exempt professional, and 1 classified staff person. As a member of the Library’s Leadership Team, the Collections Management Head participates in general administrative decision-making, library management, strategic planning, and priority setting. Detailed Description
Reporting to the University Librarian and working under the direction of the Head of Technical Services, the Collection Services and Metadata Librarian is responsible for supervising two staff positions in the Technical Services Department. He/she manages the acquisition and receipt of firm and standing orders in digital or print format for Copley Library. As Copley Library’s metadata specialist, the Collection Services and Metadata Librarian provides oversight for the cataloging of digital and print monographic, audiovisual and other non-serial materials. Duties also include performing original cataloging on a variety of formats and subject areas; collecting and analyzing data and statistics of monographs and audiovisual resources for budgeting and reporting; evaluating and supervising gift receipt and processing; staying abreast of emerging trends and best practices related to metadata, digital and print monographs publishing, and audiovisual format developments; serving on relevant library and university committees; and participating in professional organizations that focus on acquisitions and cataloging. Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, seeks a … collection-development librarian to provide system-wide leadership and support in the assessment and analysis of the Library’s collections activities. Reporting to the Head of Acquisitions Services, the Collection Assessment and Analysis Librarian will work with acquisitions colleagues, librarians from across the system, and others, to develop qualitative and quantitative methods of assessing the value and effectiveness of the Library’s collection development program. The Librarian is a member of the Acquisitions Management Team and participates in the hiring, training, management and supervision of Acquisitions staff and in departmental planning. The Librarian will be part of a growing assessment capacity in an Acquisitions Department that is reorienting itself for the future.
Job Requirements
Applicants must have a Masters in Library and Information Science (MLS) from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited program and 3-5 years of experience in collection development in an academic or research library (significant pre-professional experience may be substituted). The successful candidate will have experience with collections analysis and collections budget management; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and with partner institutions; excellent oral and written communications skills; excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to solve problems and manage complex workflows; ability to work appropriately with sensitive and confidential materials and situations; experience with statistics and spreadsheet applications (preferred); and two or more years of supervisory experience.

“Reporting to the Head of Metadata Services, the Metadata Librarian will work collaboratively with other Metadata Librarian(s) and Metadata Specialists to support the discovery of and access to Library acquired materials in a variety of languages and formats, special collections and digital content through metadata creation, analysis, enrichment, and maintenance according to local and national cataloging and metadata standards. The Librarian ensures timely access to our entitlements through accurate description of resources; participates in the evaluation of the effectiveness of metadata and performs necessary maintenance tasks on both MARC and non-MARC metadata to ensure its accuracy and continued resource discovery and access for the Georgetown University community; serves as a resource; and collaborates with others as needed to accomplish the goals of the Unit, Department, and Library.

Librarian 2 – Nevada State Library Archives
Librarians perform a broad range of professional level duties in planning, coordinating and directing activities within one or more functional areas of the library.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Incumbent provides reference services for users of NSLA including referral, information literacy training and research. Provides verbal and/or written responses to users of NSLA reference services within the NSLA library reference service guidelines; reviews and assigns reference requests in coordination with Head of Access Services to appropriate NSLA staff member(s); maintains legal requirements for confidentiality and public access; coordinates the service desks’ calendars with Access Services staff to assist clients and monitors public service areas; and maintains Access Services data collection systems. Conducts tours, consultations, workshops, training, and meetings for staff/clients as needed for Access Services and NSLA collections. Creates content for, maintains, and edits website information and updates NSLA webpages as required including online databases and serves as vendor contact for online databases and electronic resources with Head of Access Service. Assists the Head of Access Services to identify and market to state agencies and departments to better provide access to information/knowledge for state employees/customers utilizing NSLA Collections and other information management tools and online resources. Performs informational needs assessment and develops collections and/or electronic resources appropriate to the mission of NSLA; assists Access Services staff with reference collection maintenance; attends collection development team meetings and performs delegated duties.
Some travel is required. Incumbent must have or acquire a valid driver’s license within one month from the date of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment.
Approximate salary: $40,862.16 to – $60,405.84
